2009 Water Filters

2009 was the first year that Aldea Maya sold Christmas cards for water filters in Guatemala. The response was amazing. After an article was written in The “Parksville Qualicum Beach News” the community support was phenomenal. A resident, June Renwick, knitted slippers, and for everyone she sold a water filter was purchased. Students of KSS cooked a meal and bought filters for the High School in Santiago Atitlan. In all over 400 gravity feed water filters were purchased. 250 filters went to the Chuk Muk, Panabaj and Santiago Atitlan areas the rest were delivered by Mayan Families to San Jorge, Panajachel and Tierra Linda.
