For the last 13 years, Aldea Maya has ensured that every student that attends the Chuk Muk Middle School receives their supplies and has a portion of their fees paid. We are able to do this through selling our Christmas cards. In January 2025, there we 32 students who were not sponsored that needed their supplies. Here is one of the grade 7 students receiving her supplies.
We informed the students and their parents that 6 of the 32 students would receive a full sponsorship. With a full sponsorship you receive a back pack, more supplies throughout the year, shoes, PE uniform and school uniform. You also have access to medical assistance if you become ill. The criteria for receiving a scholarship are having good grades, being kind, helpful and having a family member participate in our 4 nutrition workshops. Here we are signing up parents to the nutrition workshops.
The nutrition workshops are being taught by Miriam who has a full teaching degree and is our office manager.
And 2 of our university students, Rosario who is a nurse
and Lola, who is studying esthetics.
These wonderful nutrition classes are teaching important nutrition knowledge in a fun, hands on way that incorporates cooking classes and movies.
