We then visited my sponsor family. This is a family were the mom is thinking ahead. The mom received a vegetable garden last year and it has done well. She had used some of the organic compost and started papaya plants. Last year her son Gerado received 2 chickens in our grade 5 chicken and nutrition program. These are exceptionally good egg laying birds. The family has 3 roosters and she has at least 7 chicks from last years chicken. We will be buying one rooster and these chicks for our NEW chicken instruction area at the Chukumuk school. Therefore this mom will have more income. The mom also weaves and we will probably buy guipils from her.
The son lisandro has started to make carvings to sell. They are basic but good. He has to borrow the carving tools. As his sponsor I am going to but him a set of tools so he can hone his skills. He also likes to paint.
