Today we headed to Chukumuk by road in one of the Mayan Families trucks. We had it loaded with a bed, mattresses and bags of organic compost.
Our first stop was the Mayan families pre-school. Mayan Families has a wonderful preschool that they started this year. The children get to play with toys…something that they do not have at home. The children receive a very nutitious meal, learn about brushing teeth and start to learn Spanish. It is a wonderful program that Mayan families has operating in 6 villages.
Next we headed in the truck to Panabaj. We have a family in this village with 6 students sponsored. The oldest girl in school, Lidia, has been sleeping on 2 small hard boards. The sponsors in Canada bought her a lovely bed and mattress.
A hotel in Qualicum Beach, ODI, is updating their facility and are donating sheets and blankets. Lidia was pleased to receive 2 sheets and a blanket for her new bed!!!!!!.
We headed back to Chukumuk and visited Pedro Sapalus family. His sponsor had sent towels and face cloths down for this family of 5 boys.
