Thelma has been sponsored for the last 10 years, from first year of middle school to her 5th year of university. She is studying to be a teacher. Thelma has become quite the leader in her community. Thelma is on the Guatemalan board of Directors for Aldea Maya. She also volunteers to be on our committee that worked on environmental problems in Chuk Muk with the Catholic charity CARITAS.
She was very excited to be chosen to go on a huge workshop to Semuc Champey with 3 of our other students.

When given the opportunity Thelma loves to learn more about teaching practices. Here she is taking additional courses at Puerta Abierta.
Thelma loves to educate students. She is often found in our learning centre tutoring.
Her latest project is working with all our elementary and middle school students to write and illustrate a book on their life.
