Aldea Maya has been working with the Catholic Church charity group CARITAS since 2022. Their goal is to help end poverty, promote justice and restore dignity.
They chose Francisco, our garden expert, to lead the group in Chuk Muk.
They are working with a bunch of our students to solve environmental problems in Chuk Muk. CARITAS chose 4 of our students to go on an environmental workshop in Semuc Champey.
This was an amazing experience and they all learned a lot and had a wonderful adventure. Poor students from villages do not usually get such an experience.
Caritas is going to fund the cost of putting a water system into our organic garden in the Chuk Muk elementary school. Water can often be cut off to the village for days. The system will have a large water tank to help with that problem and a sprinkler system. Here is Francisco doing the necessary measurements.
