Today we started the morning meeting 2 people from IMAP. IMAP is a permaculture organization based in San Lucas Toliman. We have sent several people on courses at IMAP, from seed collection to cooking with native plants.

We have terrible soil in Chuk Muk…the worst, Neal from IMAP, has seen in Guatemala. We have worked hard to help families to start vegetables garden but they are not nearly as successful as we would like. The problem being the soil with little organic matter. We have added manure, organic compost and coffee breakdown product but it is never enough. Thus we approached IMAP to see if they could really help us. Neal and Tamara visited our gardens and we are going to have a massive work bee next weekend. They have a group of people taking their one week permaculture course and one or two gardens in Chuk Muk are going to be part of their training project. In the next week, we are going to rent a truck and start collecting products for this massive composting set up. We are so thankful to IMAP for this amazing opportunity.
