Today is the first day in Chukumuk. This year Aldea Maya will be funding grades 7 & 8. It looks like we will have 2 grade seven classes and 1 grade eight class. We have been asked to fund a grade 9 class however we do not have the $8,000 that project would require.

We have raised the funds for 50 students to receive supplies as well have their school fees paid for. This whole sponsorship program was paid for by the sale of Christmas cards. We are fortunate that Pueblo a Pueblo, another NGO that works in this area, is going to help 8 students and Mayan families is helping with an additional 13. It looks like all the students in the school will be sponsored.

We had not bought all the school supplies in the city. Therefore we went to Santiago Atitlan to purchase the extra supplies.

Rita and I then went to visit some of our families. We wanted to see how the families were doing and to check out their water filters and stoves.

We also wanted to see how the banana, papaya and citrus trees are doing. Here is Pedro standing in one of our donated veggie gardens and you can see 2 papaya plants behind him. This family received a blender last year and makes papaya smoothies for the 5 boys.

One of my friends had extremely nice free generic cialis words to say about this product. This viagra cost is just a list of the popular problems that are faced by the men and women today. It was great fun to reaquaint myself with this years elementary school teachers. In Guatemala the elementary school is in the morning and the middle ( Basico) and high schools (carrera) is in the afternoon. Often teachers teach in 2 different schools

.

The Basico had a meeting in the late afternoon for speeches and to inform students and parents about the program. They had asked me to give a presentation. Now this would be no problem in English however it is quite challenging in Spanish .

Last year Basico 1 students gave me a guipli ( traditional top) as a thank you gift. I decided to wear traditional clothing to the meeting. The students and parents and teachers were very pleased to see me wear their clothing.
