All the books that Aldea Maya donated several years ago were put in the new library that Pueblo y Pueblo started. This library has a librarian and is a great addition to the school.
A couple of hours were spent with the director of the Basico discussing how our new school is doing. We started with 40 students and now have 28. There is always a high drop off rate as the students find their families need them to work or that the classes are too hard.

I talked to some of the students and found that they were finding the math difficult. I checked their schedule and do not think that they get enough time on math. The director is going to see if the math teacher can teach more during the week or possible 4 hours on Saturdays. There is only 5 weeks left in the school year!!!
In discussion with the director he feels probably only 20 students will pass first year Basico. He wanted to know if Aldea Maya would pay for year end field trip for those students that graduated. The trip will be to the capital to visit museums and the zoo. None of the students have ever been on a trip and I think this is a great treat for all their hard work and sacrifice.
