Today we headed to San Jorge La Laguna. This is a village sitting precariously above Panajachel. ALDEA MAYA has 4 students in this village. Two in elementary school, one in middle school (Basico) and one in high school (Carrera).
We wanted to visit the Basico student Alba and see if she was going to get her dental work done. She is very afraid to have the work done and I do not blame her. Her teeth are atrocious. Her older sister who is 16 actually has NO teeth left. Alba wants to be a lawyer when she grows up and we have explained to her that she will not even get an office job with rotten and missing teeth let alone a lawyer postition. She says she will get it done this week…she has said this before….lets hope she actually does.
Then we tried to visit Maria Isabel…our Carrera student. She unfortunately was not home.
Next we climbed up the mountainous terrain and visited Frank in his new home. ALDEA MAYA purchased this home for Frank and his family last year. They have a small microloan to pay back. They were really enjoying their home!!!!

Then it was a further climb up the mountain to visit Sindi Lorena. We were very sad to find her and her sister sleeping on a rotten, wet, dirty mattress while the dad and the boys sleep on beds.
