Welcome to the July Newsy Newsletter,
It is really exciting when you open your email in the morning and find pictures from one of the Basico teachers. Juan, the industrial teacher, just sent me these pictures of the students working on their woodworking projects. In industriales, the students learn 3D drawing, basic electrical and woodworking.
The students REALLY enjoy using the power tools. We are always adding to our tool inventory. If anyone wants to help, we are looking for circular saws, Jig saws and drills…. cordless is prefered as we only have one working electrical socket.
We have been able to send 2 village women on a 6 month introductory sewing course. They are just loving the opportunity to go to school for the first time and learn such a fun skill.
In the last week Pedro, our garden guy, and Maria, Vice President of the Chuk Muk village, completed a 2 week extensive permaculture course at IMAP. We have formed an partnership with IMAP, that has fantastic benefits to the residents of Chuk Muk and IMAP.

The IMAP students love the opportunity to create a garden which will help turn Chuk Muk from a dry wasteland into an oasis. ( Well that’s the plan). Once the gardens are producing food, our next step will be to introduce chickens and ducks. Families need free food for poultry as they are too poor to purchase feed.
